Medway Artist Almont Green Perfects Life-Like 3D Photography

Local media expert Almont Green has developed unique three-
dimensional technology for the most lifelike photography ever

Medway, Mass. – News for immediate release – Local technology entrepreneur Almont Green has always had a great eye for high quality images. For more than 25 years he has coupled his trained eye with an entrepreneur’s zeal for technology. Green founded several mixed media companies and has invented and patented unique presentation technology. 21st century technologies enabled him to conquer one of his childhood ambitions – to shoot life size live action photos in stunning 3D.

Says Green, “New technology, that I have adapted makes it possible for me to create 3D photographs with a sense of realism that has to be seen to be believed. And the magic of it is- NO goofy glasses are needed to see these remarkable images. It’s like looking at a slice of life.”

The funky glasses you have to wear at 3D movies aren't necessary with Almont Green’s photos. One glance and the sense of depth and realism are overpowering. How about the quirky little 3D-flip cards with fuzzy images that “flip” from one view to another? Not these! Almont Green photos are so lifelike it’s hard to believe they’re photos and have been described as “the most lifelike photographs ever created.”

According to Green, “The availability of today’s latest camera technology, applied in the unique multi-camera technique I’ve created, enables me to produce life-like 3D photographs that capture the true delicacy and depth of life. Like looking at the subject in real time, this unique 3D photographic art opens the door to a new era of artistic photo-realism.”

When asked how he gets photographic images to look so three dimensional and – well – real, Green said, “It’s a bit complex to explain, so please bear with me.”

He wasn’t kidding! Here’s what he said:
I take photographic art to this new level by making a photograph for both of your eyes. In a regular photograph, both eyes see exactly the same image. But in real life each eye sees a slightly different perspective of what we look at. Our eyes are spaced about 2 1/2 inches apart. This spacing means that our left eye sees slightly more detail to the left of what we are looking at - and our right eye sees slightly more information to the right of what we are looking at. As objects get closer to us, our eyes have to actually cross to keep something in focus as it gets closer and closer to us.

A photograph for BOTH our eyes must be able to present different images to each eye - to mimic the way we see things naturally. But it is even more complicated than that - because when we are seeing things up close, we don't really see things far away. Our brain ignores what is in the distance because it is out of focus and a phenomena I call "transgressed parallax" happens. Therefore, each shot taken must be mathematically correct in terms of separation, amount of parallax, focus and perspective. This is in addition to the traditional photographic details of lighting, exposure, shutter speed and so on.

But taking the photo, as detailed as that is, is only 1/2 of the process. Multiple images (taken with one shutter-click of Green's customized equipment) must then be brought into a very powerful computer system for manipulation and processing. The images have to be color balanced, scaled, rotated, masked and assembled into a perfect array that duplicates exactly what was in front of the multiple camera lenses. Then the images are calibrated and interlaced for printing onto a special lensed lenticular material that allows different images to be seen by each eye. And here’s the cool factor… without the need for special glasses or special viewing device. Incredible 3D images that appear to go into and stick out of the photo!

Fortunately, Green has done all of the work so all you have to do is marvel at the lifelike images before your eyes.

Green lives in Medway, MA with his wife Kevin Ann, a professional musician and his two daughters.  More information is available online at www.almontgreen.com
